The Premier league season begins in August and goes through the middle of May. As we near in on the end of the season, two teams stand alone at the top of the table. Liverpool and Manchester City have displayed dominance all season and provided thrillers when these two greats faced each other. This article will break down what each team has at stake and who is most likely to be crowned Premier League champs. Liverpool has six remaining games and must win all of them to have a shot at the crown. Meanwhile, Man City only has five games remaining with a 5-1 victory over Watford on Saturday April 23rd.

Liverpool:
What's at stake:
Jurgen Klopp's side entered the new year way back of Man City's lead, however they turned it around during the beginning of 2022. The Reds have begun the new year 12-0-2, a undefeated streak that has included two thrilling draws against Chelsea and Man City. During that span Liverpool also won the Carabao Cup in late February. With that being said, Liverpool has a chance at history, winning four trophies in one season. They advanced to the finals of the FA Cup with an amazing 3-2 victory over Man City. The final trophy that would give them another piece of history is the UEFA Champions League trophy, which would require beating the top teams from all across Europe. The road to their second trophy begins with their final 6 games of the EPL schedule.

Remaining Schedule:
Sunday April 24th- The Reds play at an Everton team that is barely avoiding relegation and are in desperate need of a win.
Saturday April 30th- Next up for Liverpool is a streaky Newcastle team. They are on a three-game win streak but are eleventh in the table for a reason. If Newcastle plays to their potential this could be a potential upset but Liverpool is the far more competent squad.
Saturday May 7th- Tottenham is the biggest obstacle left in the Reds' path to complete dominance, mainly because they account for one of Liverpool's only two losses this season.
Tuesday May 10th- This should be a free victory for Liverpool as this is their second team in four games that is in danger of relegation. Aston Villa is also skidding which means its an even worse time to see Jurgen Klopp's squad.
Sunday May 22nd- The Wolverhampton Wanderers will have an outside to cause the fall of Liverpool, however it is unlikely as Liverpool has been in a league of their own so far this season.
Undetermined- Southampton won't pose much of a threat to Liverpool as they have not been even close to the same league all year. It doesn't matter when this game is rescheduled, Liverpool will dominate.
Manchester City:
What's at stake:
Although there is no chance at winning four trophies, Man City still has a lot on the line, including pride. Man City entered the 2022 with the largest lead ever in the English Premier League table. If they were to fall from that lead Man City's reputation would be tainted. Man City has won three of the last four Premier League titles and if they were to manage a victory this year they would bring manager, Pep Guardiola, his fourth Premier League title. Unfortunately, they have already been eliminated from the FA Cup but they can still win the Champions League. If they were to manage to win the EPL they would take a lot of momentum into the Champions League final. If they win that they will win the top two leagues on the European continent. Their road to a double championship continues with their final five EPL regular season games.

Remaining Schedule:
Saturday April 30th- Leeds United is 16th in the table and won't prove a challenge for the far more competent Man City squad.
Sunday May 8th- Just as with Liverpool, Newcastle should not prove a legitimate challenge but if the stars align Man City could get tripped up and fall in the table.
Sunday May 15th- West Ham proves the most likely to stop Man City and even they may not be able to. Their previous meeting ended in a 2-1 victory for Man City, if that result repeats Man City will have almost secured the EPL title.
Sunday May 22nd- Just as with Liverpool, Man City should easily handle Aston Villa putting themselves one game away from the title
Undetermined- The Wolves have two games undetermined, against the top two teams in the table. They will most likely end the season on a two loss streak while Man City should secure the title.

Review:
In review, both teams have pretty smooth sailing towards the finish line. Look for Man City to end up atop the table with Liverpool close behind. However, nothing is for sure in the English Premier League. Fans will just have to watch and see which of these two great squads etches their names into history.
