Week 1 of the college football season is officially in the books. Sports fans across the nation rooted for their alma mater or just a team that they support. After a nearly 8 week hiatus of high speed sports, football is gladly welcomed back into the lives of many across America. In week 1, there were both thrillers and blowouts by the top teams in the nation.

Ohio State took until the 4th quarter to get into an offensive rhythm and eventually take down Notre Dame. Meanwhile in the swamp, the Florida Gators took down the heavily favored Utah Utes. Another SEC team got a big win in a big way Saturday, Georgia defeated Oregon 49-3 in a game that was expected to be close. The last notable team to dominate was Alabama, who took it to Utah State and eventually won 55-0.

The biggest winners of Week 1 were the Florida Gators. With expectations set low for the program they came up with big plays at the right time. Led by my favorite for the Heisman, Anthony Richardson, the Gators marched down the field to score the go ahead touchdown with only 1:25 left in the game. Utah then drove down the field into Florida territory when the Gators picked off Cam Rising in the endzone to ice the game.
